Coalition Against Insurance Fraud: New Mobile App Eases Access To Insurance-Fraud Info

Regularly updated fraud news and trend information are accessible for the first time to smartphone and iPad users through a new mobile app from the Coalition Against Insurance Fraud.

The new app FraudWire allows convenient viewing of regularly updated Coalition information that’s in high demand within the anti-fraud community.

Available are daily and weekly fraud news … weekly blogs … podcasts ... videos … trend articles by noted experts, and other fresh insurance-fraud information. They’re formatted for easy viewing on mobile screens.

FraudWire is available in the Apple store for iPhone and iPad users, and from Google Play for Android users. “Convenient access to fresh fraud information in the subway, hallway or airport is a clear work convenience to fraud fighters who rely on access to updated news and trend analyses in as close to real time as possible,” said Dennis Jay, executive director of the Coalition.

Users can navigate the Coalition app by information category, tag and a search tab. Real-time notifications of late-breaking fraud news also are available.

FraudWire reflects a continued shift to app-driven smartphones and tablets as primary platforms for accessing digital information. Mobile devices continue outperforming desktops and laptops as preferred information sources in recent years. The shift is especially marked for Millennials.

Nearly 40 percent of visitors accessed InsuranceFraud.org via mobile devices this year. Less than half of visitors accessed the Coalition’s website via Windows.

In general:

*Average daily Internet usage for mobile devices grew 600 percent from 2010 to 2015, while desktop/laptop usage flattened;

*Mobile apps account for 54 percent of time spent consuming digital media; and

*62 percent of digital media usage time is spent on a mobile device.

“America is an anywhere-anytime information economy. This is especially true of fraud fighters. An app that allows instant access to freshly updated fraud information provides a job benefit for frontline fraud fighters and a management gain for decisionmakers,” Jay said.

The Coalition Against Insurance Fraud is a national alliance of insurers, government agencies and consumers dedicated to combating all forms of insurance fraud through public advocacy, consumer education and research. Founded in 1993, the Coalition consists of 145 state, national and international organizations.
